Reds march for Shawcross

Recent reports suggest that Liverpool are eyeing up Ryan Shawcross as Kenny Dalglish seeks for defensive options to bolster the squad.

Ryan has certainly proved his worth for the Potters and has established himself as a firm fan favourite, not only by being a consistent performer with a intimidating presence, but also being an inspirational team leader at the youthful age of 23.

His efforts have widely gone unnoticed around the Premier League, which is no skin off our balls. However, it is the lack of England call-ups that have frustrated many fans and indeed Shawcross himself.

A move to a bigger club would perhaps help his situation, but surely being at a bigger club doesn`t have to be the factor teetering Fabio Capello`s decision to call him up? Why can`t he play for England whilst still being based at Stoke? He has consistent games with us and is also getting a stint as captain to contribute to his experience and help build his candidacy for the national first-team pickings.

But that seems to be the case apparently, and Tony Pulis would be disappointed to lose a player of his standard that has such impact. In all fairness, everyone round the Potteries would be too. But if he had to go, he won`t go on the cheap by any stretch of Rory`s arms!

The star defender has a £12million price-tag so bids from any club would have to be decent in order to convince Pulis to let him go.

If Liverpool did spark an interest and place a bid, would Manchester Untied perk up do we think?
