Potters plan mass clear out!

Reading through the papers this weekend I stumbled across some brilliant news for Stoke. According to reports 10 squad members are set to be sold off in January with Dave Kitson being the highest profile. None of the players are needed in the team and we may make a nice little earner from a few of them.

Only last week both Dave Kitson and Michael Tonge left to go out on loan and both are expected to leave in January. Kitson has fallen down as low as 5th choice striker and it is abundantly clear that his Potters career is never going to take off. Tonge on the other hand never really got given any chance to establish himself and his attacking nature may be suited elsewhere.

Former Captain Andy Griffin who hasn`t seen regular action since last Christmas is also set to quit the club with Middlesbrough showing interest in both him and current loanee Kitson.

Richard Cresswell and Ibrahima Sonko, both out on loan with Hull and Sheffield United respectively, are also set to be sold off with neither really showing Premier League class. Amdy Faye is another; the forgotten man of the team hasn`t played since last season as he is still on the comeback trail following back injuries.

Others set to leave include huge £1.3 million pound flop Andrew Davies, full-back Carl Dickinson, popular centre-half Leon Cort and former England u21 international Tom Soares who this time last year was a regular starter.

It`s about time that the club started to think about letting some of the fringe players leave, they are aren`t really good enough to get in the team and now that we are out of the Carling cup what do they have they to stick around for? As long as we get a fair price, which may not be a great deal, then I don`t think many fans will begrudge seeing them leave.
