Martin Paterson has signed a two year deal with Championship newcomers, Scunthorpe United after being courted by several other clubs including Cheltenham Town and Grimsby Town.

Even though the striker is out of contract, The Potters’ will be entitled to a transfer fee as he leave under the Bosman transfer rules due to his age. Hopefully that can sorted to both clubs’ satisfaction without having to resort to a tribunal. Stoke fans will remember that Kris Commons’ similar move to Nottingham Forest a few years ago resulting in a far lower than expected valuation of the player when it went to a League tribunal.
