Stoke fans’ least favourite bookie has apologised to Stoke City and the fans for paying out on the Potters’ relegation after only one game.

They’ve taken a whole page advert in today’s Sentinel to ‘apologise’, but is this just a gimmick designed to get some publicity and another attempt to get one over on the club’s owners – Peter Coates and Bet365?

It’s no coincidence that Paddy Power’s big rivals are the Stoke-on-Trent based internet bookies – Bet365. Just a week ago Peter Coates called their decision to pay out on all bets on Stoke’s relegation after just one game as ‘a cheap trick’. But is this ‘contrite’ apology just another marketing ploy?
