Stoke City manager Gary Rowett continues to search for his first competitive win in 2018/19 after we took a point from Preston North End this weekend.

It was a lively encounter with four goals shared between the two sides, but there were positives that could be taken, certainly on a spirit level as we came from behind on two occasions to ensure we took something for our efforts.

With Erik Pieters and Peter Crouch getting on the scoresheet for us they rated well on Whoscored’s system with Pieters getting the star man rating of 7.86 and Crouchy coming in at 7.59.

Joe Allen, Benik Afobe, Ashley Williams and James McClean also received ratings of 7+, but Pieters won out overall given his contribution at both ends of the pitch.

As said though, there were signs of improvement and glimpses that things were coming together so it’s all eyes to the next one and hopefully we can pick up that league win so it doesn’t become an easy stick to beat us with as August draws to a close.
