No more Nugent says Pulis

Tony Pulis has revealed that he is no longer planning to bring David Nugent to the Brit.

The Potters had been publicly chasing the former Preston striker who has had little success breaking into the Portsmouth first team this season, but with Pompey’s progression into the FA Cup semi-finals Pulis now believes that Harry Redknapp will want to keep him as backup.

Now that Jay Bothroyd has joined from Wolves on loan, the pressure is off slightly but with Fuller now facing a two match ban for his tenth booking on Saturday and Mamady Sidibe missing the match with a hamstring injury, there is still little cover available up front .

Under the circumstances, I’d have thought that TP would still be looking to bring in another striker, but may be forced to send another player out on loan to balance the books. An option is always to try and extend Bothroyd’s loan beyond one month, but no doubt he will want to have a good look at him first and time is running out with the loan window due to close on March 27th.
