Defender Marc Muniesa has admitted that Stoke City needed to be better in both boxes in Tuesday evening’s defeat to Burnley.

Taking the one nil loss at Turf Moor despite having greater overall chances on the day, Muniesa reflected on the match and admitted that across the 90 minutes we simply had to be better in both boxes than we were.

Speaking to the Official Website as he met with the media for his post game press interviews, the Spaniard explained that whilst he was delighted to be back for his first appearance since the turn of the year, plenty should’ve been better on the day when it came to our performance.

‘Today is not a good day for us. We knew it would be difficult to come here because they are a really physical team. They dominated in the first few minutes but then we`ve had some chances through Marko Arnuatovic but it wasn`t our day.’

With a number of chances wasted on the day at their end, Muniesa also felt the goal we conceded was a lack of concentration so we should’ve been better in that moment as well.

‘We need to better in the final third. We have quality players and need to finish the chances we create. We also need to be more concentrated at the back and not allow them to score from one chance. It was too easy from our point of view because one of their players dribbles past three of ours and crosses to George Boyd where I needed to be tighter on him. It`s a bad night for us because it`s three points we`ve lost out on but we now need to focus on our remaining games.’

Three straight defeats and Liverpool up at the weekend.
