Former Stoke manager, Gary Megson has been appointed the new manager of Leicester City and has taken on the no-nonsense ex Stoke defender, Gerry Taggart as first team coach.

Megson, who is a close friend of Tony Pulis, had been helping out on the coaching side at Stoke throughout pre-season and had always insisted that he wanted to get back into club management. But the Leicester chairman, Milan Mandaric, is a tough taskmaster and Megson is the fourth manager to be appointed by the former Portsmouth owner since he arrived last year.

Indeed, Pulis (who is one in a long line of sacked Mandaric managers) was moved to remark that he was sure that his friend would do well in his new role, but ‘he’d just have to win every week!’

But maybe Gary is hoping that big Gerry Taggart can help him sort out any problems with his new chairman….
