It was understood Stoke had finally secured former loanee Bruno Martins Indo earlier this week? A deal had reportedly been agreed and he was to undergo a medical ahead of his proposed transfer.

Stoke may well have agreed a deal with Porto for Martins Indi but so too have Crystal Palace, according to reports today.

Dutch international Martins Indi will now have a medical and look to agree terms to link up with his compatriot Frank de Boer at Selhurst Park – our friends at Vital Crystal Palace said:

Frank de Boer is set to add countryman Bruno Martins Indi to the Crystal Palace squad.

Martins Indi enjoyed a successful loan at Stoke last season and had been expected to return to the bet365 Stadium but failure to wrap up a deal sooner has seen Palace step in, according to Sky Sports.

Stoke had taken Martin Indi on loan last season with the view to a permanent transfer. However, having made 35 Premier League appearances for Mark Hughes’ side last season, that option expired on 1st July without a deal being agreed.

Now Palace have reportedly agreed a deal with Porto for the Dutch international.

De Boer, looking for a defender following the return to Liverpool of Mamadou Sakho, who isn’t coming back to Selhurst Park, has stepped in and Martins Indi, under contract at his Portuguese club for another year, is set for Palace.

Sky said he’ll join the Eagles ‘subject to agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.’

This would be a huge setback for Mark Hughes and blow to Stoke as a whole having seemingly snared the Dutchman after a summer of frustration looking to complete this deal.

Ultimately the Potters’ inability to get this deal over the line quicker could cost us Martins Indi’s signature and his bet365 Stadium return this season will come as a visiting player only?
