Stoke striker Mama Sidibe will return to training next week as he completes his comeback from a 7 month lay-off.

The Mali international ruptured his cruciate ligament in March while warming up for a reserve match but is almost set for a return to action with a reserve appearance in mind towards the end of the month.

Sidibe, who scored 3 league goals last season, has always been a huge fan favourite amongst Potters followers and would now like to thank them for the great support we have shown him during his lay-off.

‘I want to pay the fans back, because their support helps me a lot. I don’t score 15 or 20 goals a season for them, but they know I always give everything”.
Mama is sure to find it hard to fit back in TP`s plans as he lies as low as 5th choice striker but relishes the opportunity to get back in to the side. ‘I don’t want to come back just to say ‘I’m here’. I want to do something.’

  • I still think Mama will have a part to play as a sub in many games. He is useful if we are hanging on to a lead and under pressure late in a game or if we need to adopt Plan C in a game we are losing. Lets face it, there are not many better target men – if he scored more goals he’d be at a top club. I think he is like Heskey but better!
