Welcome to ‘In Numbers’, the first of a weekly series. This series itself will focus on highlights from the games, talking points and key decisions. It will also include comedy, hashtags, and vital statistics.

The first game of the season was away at Liverpool for the Potters, so let’s have a look at the match…in numbers.

74 – The number of world class saves that Asmir Begovic made in the game. And i wish i was exaggerating that number. #wonderhands

1 – The number of people, who thought that Sturridge’s celebration was a complete knock-off of Eric Cantona’s. #Sturridgewastheoneperson

5,000 – The number of Stoke fans at the game who said this sentence as Adam had a shot from the halfway line: ‘That’s an awful cross. Is it a cross? It’s a shot! That’s a great effort!’ #mindchanger

0 – The number of people who said ‘he’s gonna bag this and get us a point’ as soon as Jon Walters stepped up to take that penalty. #pleasegodneveragain

30,000 – Approximately the number of Stoke fans who wanted to see Nzonzi beat Lucas to a pulp after their spat. #knockout

45 – The number of years the the crossbar by the kop end will keep rattling after Huth’s volley nearly destroyed it. #couldhavekilledsomebody
