Former Stoke manager, Brian Little has been linked with the vacant job at our Burslem neighbours, Port Vale.

Little spent a year at the Brit in 1998 to 1999 in the wake of a calamitous, but thankfully short, 14 games when Chris Kamara found out that football management was harder than being a football pundit.

In that year he steadied the Potters’ ship after the previous season’s relegation and whilst there were some turbulent ups and downs that season, we finished just outside the play-offs in the old Second Division.

Since then he has managed West Brom, Hull and more recently Tranmere Rovers but left the club ‘by mutual consent’ in May 2006 after they narrowly avoided relegation to League 2.
