Liam Lawrence`s summer of gossip and speculation over his future has taken another turn as it has been revealed that his move to Portsmouth didn`t go through. Lawrence was expected to join Dave Kitson at the South Coast club as part of the deal that saw Marc Wilson join the Potters.

The paperwork for both Wilson and Kitson was submitted before the 6pm cut off point on August 31st, with Stoke Chief Executive Tony Scholes admitting that Wilson`s paperwork wasn`t faxed to the FA until 17.59. But Lawrence`s wasn`t sent through until after the deadline making him still a Stoke player.

Stoke and Portsmouth are though to be agreeing to a deal that will see Lawrence move on loan to Pompey until January, when he will complete his transfer.

It wouldn`t be a normal transfer window unless something went wrong at Pompey who already have Potters defenders Ibrahima Sonko and Carl Dickinson on loan for the season.
