Despite being adamant that no bid has yet come in for him, Robert Huth`s future at the Britannia is for the first time being put to the test as Liverpool reportedly prepare a bid.

The German has been a revelation since his arrival 18 months ago and those performances have caught the eye of Roy Hodgson who seems set to make a bid of around £5 million. Although Huth has distanced himself from the move, Liverpool is still an attractive club and still has the power to lure the likes of the 26 year-old centre back away.

From our point of view it wouldn`t be a bad move if the Liverpool board decide to dismiss Hodgson, although you never want to see a manger sacked, as it would seriously dent any potential move from happening. Stoke, of course don`t want to sell and why should they?

Huth has been our most consistent defender this season whether at right-back or alongside Ryan Shawcross at the heart of the backline. But if the Reds come in with a tempting sum of money and Huth decides that the North West is the place for him (although you have to wonder who in their right mind would go there right now) then conceivably it could happen.

The future of Abdoulaye Faye is also up in the air. The Senegalese defender is out of contract at the end of the season and is unlikely to become a regular starter again. Pulis though, has made it clear that he would like the experienced former Bolton man to sign a new contract, Faye on the other hand is thought to prefer a change of scenery. If Stoke can pick up some money for him then get on with it. There isnt much point keeping him on the wage bill and he has proven that he is more a liability these days .

As for players arriving, there is still much hype in the media over Dave Wheater signing from Middlesbrough. Borough boss Tony Mowbray has said that he will allow the centre back to leave if the price is right. Pulis has ruled out a move for Stephen Ireland, which is very disappointing as the Potters midfield could do with the invention and craft that the Villa midfield offers.

And as for Eidur Gudjohnsen, there are reports he could start tomorrow?

I think there is a better chance that Roy Hodgson will keep his job!
