Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones is having a medical before completing his record breaking transfer to the Britannia Stadium. The 25 year-old has been in the Potteries today discussing personal terms and is currently going through the final part of the procedure.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce confirmed that they had accepted a bid from Stoke for Jones and that, although the deal isnt yet complete, the Potters had been chasing him for at least a year.

The deal will become a record buy for Tony Pulis eclipsing the £6 million they paid 12 months ago for Robert Huth. A fee in the region of £9 million has been widely reported for a player who was on the brink of joining Liverpool in January.

Meanwhile Stoke are rumoured to be one of eight clubs sending representatives out to Norway tonight to watch French striker Loic Remy make his first start for his country. Now with Seville in the mix the chances of signing the exciting striker are thin to say the least. But with Jones seemingly on the way and Pulis addressing our striker issue, it doesn`t really matter, although I still wouldn`t turn him down
