Jay is pleased with Stoke move

Jay Bothroyd reveals his disappointment at dropping down the pecking order at Molineux but says he’s delighted with his loan move to promotion-chasing Stoke City.

‘I was happy to go out on loan. I wasn`t playing at Wolves and I was disappointed not to be part of the manager’s plans. Going on loan was the best thing for me to do. No player is happy when they are not playing. The manager (Mick McCarthy) could see I was unhappy. He told me that Stoke wanted me and I was glad that he did. I have no problem with the gaffer at all – I just needed to go somewhere to play my football.

‘Stoke are not really Wolves’ rival which is probably why I was able to go to another club in the top-end of the table. Stoke are doing better than Wolves and perhaps the thinking was that I could do some damage to Wolves’ competitors. Wherever I am I just need to be playing, that`s the main thing.’
