Stephen Ireland is the latest Stoke player to be added to the ever growing injury list.

Ireland pulled his hamstring in Stoke`s 1-1 draw with Newcastle on Sunday and is set to be side lined for a number of weeks.

Mark Hughes told Stokecityfc.com: “Stephen has unfortunately pulled his hamstring so he is going to be out for a couple of weeks, which is a disappointment.

“It is a real shame because he has come into the team with Bojan out injured and has done really well for us.”

The 28-year-old midfielder joins Dionatan Teixeria, Peter Odemwingie, Bojan, Ryan Shawcross and Erik Pieters on the physio`s table, but there is hope that Marko Arnautovic can shake off an ankle injury which forced his absence against Newcastle at the weekend.

Hughes added: “Marko is feeling better, which is a positive for us. Obviously he wasn`t able to travel and play on Sunday.

“We are hoping he is available on Wednesday, but if not then he should be fine for the game against Blackburn at the weekend.”
