Huth doubtful for Cup Final?

Tony Pulis will have a massive decision to make on Saturday as Robert Huth`s knee injury may be worse then first feared. It seems the German defender has suffered suspect ligament damage, which will decrease his chances of playing at Wembley.

As Huth limped off against Arsenal on Sunday many, including myself, hoped that this was just a precautionary measure, but Peter Coates has said that Huth has flown out to Spain to see a knee specialist in order to play in the clubs first ever FA Cup Final.

“He has seen a specialist we have used before and have full confidence in. He will then be coming back to us – then we just have to wait and hope. He will be desperate to play at Wembley, like any footballer would be, and it will be a terrible shame if he does miss out”.

“It’s going to be a very difficult judgment to make about whether he plays – for the player, the medical staff and, ultimately, Tony Pulis.’

With Danny Higginbotham and Ricardo Fuller already out, and with Matthew Etherington facing a race against time, the impact of losing Huth would be huge. There are of course ready made replacements in Abdoulaye Faye and Danny Collins, but neither have the same understanding at the back with Shawcross, and they have hardly featured in 2011.
