Manager Mark Hughes has paid credit to the travelling fans following the disappointing midweek result at Burnley and he’s looking to make amends against West Ham United.

Heading to Turf Moor for the midweek clash Stoke City came home with nothing to show for their efforts as the hosts hit a late winner and speaking to the Official Website the Welshman said of the 1,000+ that travelled in those conditions.

‘I thought the fans who made the trip to Turf Moor were absolutely fantastic. Those who were at Wembley on Saturday had a right to be angry after our second half display down there but the support they showed us against Burnley was brilliant. It was a filthy night but you would never have known judging by the noise that was coming from our section of the ground. The fans were in great voice and it had a big, big impact on the players.’

Hughes went on to say.

‘Conceding the winning goal in the 89th minute was tough to take but the fans who were there will have hopefully seen how much playing for Stoke City means to the players. We`ll look to go again against West Ham at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday and I know the supporters will be right behind the players from the first whistle to last.’

Turning attentions to West Ham, Hughes also confirmed that French international centre half Kurt Zouma would miss the game having picked up a hamstring problem in midweek.

The good news is the injury isn’t as bad as first feared, so it shouldn’t be a lengthy layoff.

‘Unfortunately, Kurt won`t be available this weekend, which is of course a disappointment for us. The good news is however that the injury isn`t as serious as it might have been, so we don`t anticipate him being ruled out for any significant length of time.’

There’s also good news on Bruno Martins Indi whose rehabilitation is going well.

‘Bruno will be a few more weeks, but he, and ourselves, are quite happy with the way things are progressing. We don`t think it will be six to eight weeks as we initially thought but he will still miss the Christmas period, I would suggest.’
