Is our new signing being unsettled by links to West Ham? Or is Belgian international Carl Hoefkens, or his agent, talking up a chance for a ‘big move’? Lets hope neither.
The 27 year old defender Hoefkens says he has heard rumours of their interest.
West Ham manager Pardew signed left back Clive Clark and agreed on us taking Chadwick on loan. With all the talk of the possibility of the Chadwick loan being made permanent, it certainly gets you thinking doesn’t it?
He is quoted in Belgian paper Het Nieuwsblad: ‘I know about the interest. I’ll have to see what happens next. I know West Ham are a wealthy club. The transfer fees mentioned are not exaggerations.’
However, West Ham have played down links saying there is always speculation and, not unlike any other club, they are always looking at ‘a number of players’.
Johan Boskamp said ‘The first time I heard of it was in the newspapers and that’s the only time. We have close contact with West Ham because we have Luke Chadwick on loan here and they have not spoken to me about Carl.’
Hoefkens, who was bought from Germinal Beerschot, has prospered alongside Duberry this season. Lets hope this is agent or paper talk only.
