Hannes Sigurdsson was named in the starting line-up on Tuesday night against a Spain team full of world stars, including Cesc Fabregas, Raul and Fernando Torres.
‘Siggy’ played on the left wing and did well in his sides commendable 0-0 draw, before being replaced on 78 minutes by Hjalmar Jonsson.
Tony Pulis will no doubt be keeping the big Icelander in line for the left-wing slot should Peter Sweeney become injured.

Last years player-of-the-season Carl Hoefkens was also named in Belgium’s starting line up against Kazakhstan in his sides Euro 2008 Group A Qualifier. Belgium will be disappointed with their 0-0 draw, and Hoefkens was replaced on 74 minutes by Anthony Vanden Borre.

Hoekfens will be back in action on Saturday at Luton, and Sigurdsson is likely to be one of the substitutes. Early team news suggest new signing Danny Higginbotham is expected to recover after missing the Birmingham game, and resume his role at left-back.
