Stoke will be looking to put last weekend’s defeat against Blackpool behind them but it won’t be easy at Arsenal where we don’t exactly have a good record of coming away with any points.
The Gooners will no doubt be looking to stir things after Ryan Shawcross was sent off last season at the Brit, when Aaron Ramsey sadly broke his leg, despite every sane neutral’s agreement that it was an accident. The Gunners have had more than their fair share of red cards with five so far this season so it really should be a case of ‘when living in glass houses…..’ etc and moving on.
They’re certainly not unbeatable at home this season as West Brom, Newcastle and Spurs have already found out to their advantage.
The Shawcross/Ramsey saga has reignited the frosty relations between the two clubs and certainly TP knows which is the ‘dirtier club’.
‘Arsenal have got more red cards than us this season, more yellows than us and committed more fouls,’ he said.
‘It’d also be nice to tell the ref that before Saturday – I just have? Good! People have perceptions and you struggle to change those.’
Arsenal Team News:
Keeper Lukasz Fabianski is still struggling with a hip injury so the young Polish keeper, Wojciech Szczesny could continue in goal. Nicklas Bendtner may be missing after being granted paternity leave.
Player to watch: Samri Nasri
The French international has been on fire this season with twelve goals so far this season.
Stoke City Team News:
Jon Walters has been suffering with flu but is still likely to take up a place on the bench after he travelled to London via train with the squad earlier today. Otherwise, we’re at full strength.
Player to watch: Ryan Shawcross
He’ll be fine tomorrow and hopefully we’ll give the Gooners something else to whinge about when we snatch the points off them.
Match Facts & Stats
Both teams will be looking to put their 0-1 defeat behind them last week, but I fancy us to score and take it to the wire. Prediction: 2-1 to the Potters with Fuller scoring two.
Boxing Day: Blackburn (away) kick-off: 3pm
