It’s being reported that new manager Paul Lambert is close to making Kostas Stafylidis his first signing as Stoke City manager.

Sky Sports have reported that Stoke are in negotiations with Bundesliga side Augsburg to bring the left back to the Bet365 Stadium on a loan spell for the rest of the current campaign.

They say the 24 year old Greek international is known for his ‘quick turn of pace and accomplished ability at set pieces’.

Left back is an obvious choice for strengthening with Erik Pieters have missed five of the last six matches with injury, and cover and competition for 18 year old Josh Tymon wouldn’t do any harm either as he continues to develop.

Stafylidis is said to have fallen down the pecking order at Augsburg and with game time limited, he’d be open to the switch.

There’s not yet any speculation about a potential buy deal come the summer.
