Ricardo Fuller and Demar Phillips arrived back early this week after a wasted trip to Jamaica to earn the gaffer’s praise.

The Reggae Boyz discovered that their planned midweek friendly against Columbia had been cancelled, but only after the squad had been training in Jamaica last Saturday and Sunday. Ric (along with new Potters’ team-mate, Demar Phillips) had flown in to their home country on Friday, then promptly flew back on Monday and were back training at the Michelin on Tuesday morning – much to the surprise of Tony Pulis.

You have to admire Ricardo for his comittment to the Potters – in stark contrast to his predecessor, Sam Bangoura who, given such a golden opportunity, would have headed off for a week’s holiday (at least!).

Demar Phillips also went on to make his debut in a Stoke shirt on Wednesday and had a couple of decent chances to score before Lewis Buxton got the reserves their winning goal against Bradford City at the Britannia Stadium.
