Reports suggest that Fulham after the signature of Irish International and Stoke midfielder Glenn Whelan, if he decides he wants to leave the club.

Whelan helped us in our FA Cup campaign, and featured in the final. He`s been a solid player to look to when needed, but as he hasn`t been a regular for us in the league last season; he wants more than being the ‘solid back-up`.

Whelan held talks Tony Pulis in January about a possible move then after not being given much game time, but will he still feel the same way now? Well rumour has is it that Pulis is again considering letting Whelan leave, which has brought about interest from relegated West Ham as well as Fulham, but the Cottagers head the odds.

Glen hopes to remain in the Premier League wherever he goes, so West Ham won`t be an attractive option for him. So the chances of him moving to Fulham, especially as Wolves are on the brink of finalising a permanent deal for Spurs midfielder Jamie O`Hara, could be as solid as Whelan himself. But then again, who knows? It could be as solid as Salif Diao.

Newly appointed Fulham gaffer Martin Jol will want some form of cover in midfield, but would Whelan fit the bill at Craven Cottage? If Whelan wants regular games guaranteed, then he`d hit the nail on the head if he went to West Ham. Whelan is a good player, but he`s starting to fall behind a bit as we look to strengthen our side and continually improve our quality of players.
