Gary Rowett saw his Stoke City side make it two pre-season wins from two at the weekend as we took victory over Walsall at the Bescott Stadium.

Having open the game schedule with a 5-2 demolition of Macclesfield Town in a behind closed doors friendly, on Saturday the team took to the pitch in front of the fans and the 3-0 win was secured with Bojan, Ibrahim Affellay and Peter Crouch all getting on the scoresheet.

We were 2-0 up within the opening five minutes of the tie, with Couch adding a third shortly after the hour mark.

It of course all about fitness at this stage of the season and not results, but being early into his tenure, Rowett will certainly have been pleased with another clinical showing from the team as we build our sharpness and adjust to exactly what he wants from us in the future.

With the aim being promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking as we approach the 2018/19 Championship campaign, whilst little stock can be put in friendlies, it’s certainly not going to do confidence any harm if this winning streak continues.

Stoke City First-Half:

Federici, Bauer, Souttar, Martins Indi, Tymon, Adam, Allen, Bojan, Berahino, Afellay (Sorensen 30), Afobe.

Stoke City Second-Half:

Haugaard, Edwards, Shawcross, Sweeney, Pieters, Fletcher, Sorensen (Verlinden 70), Ngoy, Imbula, Choupo-Moting, Crouch.
