It’s being reported tonight that Stoke City have decided that Quique Sanchez Flores is their preferred candidate for the managerial hotseat.

With Martin O’Neill having held talks, it’s believed he remains in the running, but based on what we heard from the Espanyol boss, he is now our first choice to replace Mark Hughes.

The BBC reported a short time ago that a delegation from the club had now met with Flores to discuss matters and although the 52 year old remains under contract and is preparing for their Copa del Rey tie this evening against Levante, he has a release clause in his contract.

All we need to know now is whether or not he’d like to accept our offer it seems and the club have reportedly given a deadline of tomorrow to provide an answer as we’d still like to have someone in place ahead of the game against Manchester United on Monday evening.
