Stoke City are still looking for their first win of the season after suffering a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal.

The Emirates still proving haunting for Stoke City now lost every time since promotion to the premier league thanks to goals from Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud.

It didn’t take long for the hosts to get going in this match up and after only 3 minutes Stoke keeper Jack Butland pulls off a superb save to deny Alexis Sanchez, the Chileans flick from 8 yards is tipped on to the post, Walcott follows in but can only put it wide. Just 5 mins later Arsenal strike the post again another shot from Alexis Sanchez beats Butland but denied by the wood work all this after only 8 minutes.

Arsenal were dominant over Stoke and could of easily been 4-0 up after just 20 mins but it took until the half hour mark for them to break the deadlock. A great ball over the top from Ozil and Walcott keeps his cool and Butland is finally beaten.

Only 2 minutes later it was Stokes turn to attack with new striker Joselu catching the ball on the volley from 25 yards bringing a good save from Petr Cech. Their wasn’t much more from the first half and as the half time whistle went Stoke are lucky not to be 4-0 down.

Stoke grew confidence in the second half but it was Arsenal who continued to dominate with jack Butland pulling off more good saves to deny Arsenal. And people said Butland was not good enough to fill Begovic’s boots, on his performances so far I beg to differ.

It wasn’t until the 85th minute that arsenal but the game beyond doubt when a cross from Santi Carzola, found the head of Giroud. Simple goal from Arsenal but sometimes simple is the best way to score.

The game finished 2-0 but Stoke were just not good enough on a ground that is already haunting the potters.

Stoke have brought well in the summer and despite a bad start you can only see Stoke finishing well.

Our season start now.
