Just as the dust settled after yesterday`s frenzied Deadline Day, Stoke have confirmed that the deal bringing Eidur Gudjohnsen to the Potteries is a permanent one and not a loan deal.

Tony Pulis confirmed that the Icelandic playmaker has signed just a one year contract but he is an official Stoke player and not on loan from French outfit Monaco, the fee paid by Stoke is undisclosed.

Eidur is set to go through a gruelling 12 days with Salif Diao in what Pulis has called a ‘mini pre-season` while others are away for the international break. All things being well he could be set for his debut against Aston Villa at the Britannia alongside Marc Wilson and Jermaine Pennant. Potters fans should get their first chance to see Kenwyne Jones make his home debut.

Another piece of good news is that Tuncay is still here. The Turk was set to leave for Blackburn if Gudjohnsen arrived but for one reason or another that didn`t materialise and he was in training this morning. However Liam Lawrence has completed his move to Portsmouth as part of the deal to bring Marc Wilson here.

Stoke have to name their 25 man squad for the league by 5pm tonight.
