Speculation has long linked Newcastle United winger Matt Ritchie with a switch to the Britannia Stadium this summer but the only movement on the deal seems to be the media rehashing the same reports every few days as nothing new has happened.
We have reportedly made Newcastle aware of our interest and some talks have taken place just establishing ground rules I guess for negotiations, but the sticking point is Newcastle flat our refuse to deal until they have sourced a suitable replacement for the 28-year-old Scottish international winger.
Stoke still haven’t agreed a price for Matt Ritchie after latest talks. Situation remains the same for Benitez. Ritchie exit only sanctioned if a quality replacement comes in. #nufc

With Newcastle seeming to stall in their own chase for Crystal Palace’s Andros Townsend – why they sold him in the first place if they now want him back in beyond me – they seem no nearer to being in a position to do a deal, and plenty of Stoke fans are now hoping we scrap it and move onto another candidate to strengthen the group before the 2018/19 Championship campaign kicks off.

I think they are doing it on purpose, why not just move on and get Canos or surely we have other targets for that side

We need to pull out of this one. Go for Canos and Richie Barker.
