Midfielder, Salif Diao has signed for the Potters on a three month loan from Liverpool with Stoke confident of also signing Rory Delap from Sunderland before Saturday’s trip to fellow strugglers, Leeds United.

A Sengalese international, 29 year old Diao has not managed to penetrate the Anfield first team this season. He signed a five year contract after the World Cup in 2002 for £5m, but after making 40 appearances in his first season has been a major disappointment to the Anfield Cop. He was loaned out to Birmingham in the 2004/5 season, but only played two games before succumbing to injury problems, finally spending last season at Portsmouth where he hardly set the south coast alight. Diao and Pulis will be hoping that it will now work out for him at the Brit. At least if it doesn’t, we can pack him off back to Liverpool at Christmas.

Rory Delap also seems closer to arriving at the Brit before the end of the week. The Sunderland midfielder has been touted around as a possible loan signing for over a week now and it now looks like he will be the third loan signing in the last two weeks. Suddenly the Stoke midfield has the potential to look very different.

The questions now are – who does Pulis drop and will it work?
