Earlier this afternoon Stoke City confirmed that Peter Crouch had extended his time at the club by a further year.

The former England international has signed a new 12 month deal at the club keeping him with us until the summer of 2019. A fan favourite – most fans I’d say and not just Potters – he now has 43 Premier League goals to his name for us, and 58 in total following his arrived for a then record £12million back in 2011.

Chief executive Tony Scholes told the Official Website.

‘The discussions with Peter and his representatives were very straightforward; Peter is happy here and made no secret of his desire to stay with the Club. We`re delighted with the news. There were one or two raised eyebrows when we signed Peter from Tottenham because it was a huge outlay for us as a Club at the time but he has now signed his fourth contract for the Club and has been a vital figure for us in the Premier League.’

Manager Mark Hughes added.

‘Peter has been with Stoke longer than he has been with any other club which I think speaks volumes for how he views us and how we view him. He still has so much to offer us. He may be 36 but he continues to have a major impact on games, as he has proved on numerous occasions this season.’

Crouch himself said of the new deal and his time at the club so far.

‘I really enjoy it here, I love it to be fair – it`s like home. I love working with the staff here, we have a great group of players who are hungry to succeed and I just love coming in on a daily basis. I have always had a really special relationship with the supporters too, so from that perspective it was a no brainer to sign a longer deal. Obviously from the football side of things, the top six aside, I really don`t think there is anywhere else better to be, I genuinely do think we are the best of the rest.’

He went on to add.

‘I truly believe that, and I want to confirm that by enjoying this season really strongly. As long as the Club keeps offering me these extensions and having the belief in me that they do, then I will keep on signing them.’
