Burnley has today signed Stoke centre-back Leon Cort for £1.5 million. The former Palace defender has put pen to paper on a 3 and a half contract with the relegation contenders.

Cort signed for Stoke two years ago for a then club record fee of £1.4 million. He quickly became an instant fans favourite by helping the Potters to promotion.

That`s where it all started to fall apart for Cort. Several indifferent displays saw him lose his place to Ryan Shawcross and Ibrahima Sonko and have since struggled to break back into the team.

In all honesty the deal isnt going to affect anything on the pitch as Cort was never realistically going to break back into the team on merit. It seems then that Tony Pulis is unlikely to search for a replacement.

It`s a deal that suits all parties now that Burnley have their man and Stoke how a nice healthy cheque to cash. Thanks to Leon for his services and we wish him the best of luck
