Pre-season I felt Middlesbrough could prove to be this year’s surprise package, and nothing has happened to change that opinion.

A win over a Spurs side that are still incredibly favourites to finish fifth, was followed by a desperately unfortunate defeat at Anfield, and even their reserves have shown what they are capable of in cruising past the previously unbeaten Yeovil.

Stoke may take heart from their dramatic win at Villa, but they are leaking goals even in victory and are sure to suffer another hard time on Saturday.
