Wilfried Bony’s disappointing spell with Stoke will almost certainly end when his season-long loan takes him back to Manchester City at the end of the campaign.

He arrived at the Bet365 Stadium last summer when Stoke won the race to sign the former Swansea striker on loan but his time with the Potters has seen Bony score just three goals in 11 appearances.

Bony could have cut short his spell with ahead of the African Cup of Nations but opted to see out his loan instead of following the money to China – his chances were further reduced when Saido Berahinho joined from West Brom in January.

Given Bony’s previous in the Premier League, despite his struggles with Man City and Stoke, as he was the top goalscorer during the calendar year of 2014 the striker will be subjected to a ‘three-way fight’ in the summer according to the Sun.

However, unsurprisingly Stoke aren’t going to be in the mix to sign the Ivory Coast international. West Ham reportedly lead this battle ahead of West Brom with Everton ‘monitoring’ Bony’s situation should Romelu Lukaku leave Goodison Park.

Bony does have a couple of years left on his Man City deal but it was claimed ‘City are prepared to take a hit’ on their £25m investment from Swansea two years back with a potential bargain up for grabs, which he would be should he recapture that Swans form?
