Manchester City striker, Benjani Mwaruwari is the latest striker to be linked with a move to the Potters over the last couple of weeks.

The Zimbabwean international has had a torrid time at Eastlands since his controversial move from Portsmouth in February 2008 and it looks likely that he’s going to be dropping down the pecking order now that Man City have completed the signing of Roqua Santa Cruz from Blackburn and appear to be closing in on Carlos Tevez.

Last season was blighted by injury with a severe thigh strain suffered early on in pre-season training. He returned to the first team last November, but promptly pulled a hamstring in December and missed the remainder of the season, but not before he managed to score three goals.

It’s being reported that the Potters are also still after Hammers’ striker, Dean Ashton, despite denials from Stoke chairman, Peter Coates. With Tony Pulis obviously keen to sign another striker (Owen and Martins were other players who have been linked), you start to wonder how the front line will look next season, with Ricardo Fuller and James Beattie already occupying the front row and Mamady Sidibe yet to return to full fitness after a knee injury which has sidelined him since last December.
