Belt Up Brady!

Stoke City are said to be absolutely fuming with Karren Brady`s comments about Ryan Shawcross, and are considering making an official complaint to the Premier League.

The respected business(wo)man and vice-chairman at West Ham publicly condemned Shawcross in her national newspaper column.

She accused him of a ‘leg-shattering assault’ on Aaron Ramsey when leaving the Arsenal midfielder with a badly broken leg 14 months ago.

She also hinted that Ryan had shown no remorse for the incident, which left Ramsey out of the game for more than six months.

Stoke manager Tony Pulis has publicly stood by Shawcross since the Ramsey incident in February of last year along with chairman Peter Coates. Fans yesterday were especially vocal in support of the young skipper who had a decent display at the Brit against Arsenal.

The club believes Brady’s comments were ill-timed, ill-informed and potentially libelous by suggesting intent on the part of Shawcross when tackling Ramsey in last year’s fixture.

Her attack also ignores the fact that Shawcross not only left the field in tears when red-carded for the tackle, but that he later tried to communicate his best wishes to Ramsey. Typical.

Stoke believe Brady, given her position within the game, should not be commenting so irresponsibly on another club’s player.

Want my opinion? She should mind her own business.

Ryan is a top quality player, but because of that inconvenience called ‘human nature`; he, along with every single player in football, will make mistakes. The tackle was a clumsy one I`ll give you that but there was no malice what so ever. There has been major debate about whether it actually did do any damage, but whoever or whatever is to blame; it`s how you react and deal with it afterwards that counts.

Ryan was deeply upset by the thought of ruining someone`s career at such an early age, and attempted to make contact with Aaron to apologize and see that he was ok. That doesn`t sound like a thug to me. That sounds like a genuine person who cares.

So Karren Brady; I think you have more important things to worry about i.e. relegation. Where are we? We`re 8th currently in the league and are in the FA Cup Final. Where are you? In last chance saloon drowning your sorrows most probably.
