New signing Moritz Bauer has said he had no hesitation in making the switch from Rubin Kazan to Stoke City.

Speaking to the Official Website in his first proper interview since joining the club earlier in the week, Bauer described the switch as a ‘dream come true’ and the Austrian international admitted he couldn’t wait to get to grips with the Premier League now.

25 year old Bauer is our first signing of the January transfer window.

‘I am very happy to be here – I feel really, really good and everybody has welcomed me so warmly. Stoke City is a Club with a big tradition, a very cool stadium, great players and fantastic supporters of course.’

He went on to say.

‘To play in the Premier League is an incredible opportunity, because for me it is the best league in the world and I have always dreamed of one day coming here. So, when you get an offer to come to play in this league, for a big club like Stoke City, then it makes the decision so easy to make – it is a dream come true for me to be here!’

Right back Bauer went on to say that he did ask for thoughts from several in the first team as well as fellow international Marko Arnautovic who departed over the summer.

‘When there were rumours of the possibility of this move taking place I did speak to one or two guys I know. I spoke to Kevin Wimmer of course, who plays here and I also spoke to Marko Arnautovic who told me many good things about the Club. I also know Xherdan Shaqiri from Switzerland, and he gave so many warm words about the Club, everything feels perfect.’

He’s been handed the number 2 shirt for the remainder of the 2017/18 campaign and we’ll have to see if that’s his number of choice over his four and a half year deal with the club.
