There are rumours around that are linking Sammy Bangoura to West Bromwich Albion. Our local West Midlands rivals have recently been relegated from the Premiership back into the Championship and appear to be looking around for replacement strikers.

Whether this is Sammy’s agent again just trying to stir up interest in his client or a serious bid remains to be seen, but this would not be the first time that the Guinean international is rumoured to have had clubs ‘clamouring’ for his signature.

Bangoura signed a three year contract for £900,000 at the start of last season, so any attempted move away from the Potters would not come cheap. It’s also unlikely that any deals would be done until the new manager is installed and he has had time to review the squad.

  • Whilst he’s quite a good player, if someone comes in with a decent offer I think we should take it. Off the field he’s been taking the p*** and I’m sure that he only came to us so that he could get into the english game and get a work permit. If I remember correctly, the Standard Leige fans were saying much the same when they sold him to us!

  • I’d be inclined to let him go if we can get our money back. If he recovers his form under a newmanager, great. If he doesn’t then we’d be looking at a hefty loss. Too big a risk to keep him if we get a decent offer, I think.

  • As ever, it depends on the £.
Pre Christmas value: £3m + & a healthy profit, thanks very much.
Post Christmas (i.e. after Sam’s extended holidays in Egypt @ the African Nations) value: a bag of washers. So let’s hope Robson saw him last year then.

  • west brom i think will win the championship, they will proberly still have a decent enough squad to bounce back, unlike sunderland and birmingham cause half of them will go
