Late yesterday afternoon, it was being reported that Marko Arnautovic had formally submitted a transfer request to Stoke City.

Sky Sports were reporting that sources had told them the Austrian had handed in the request on Monday afternoon.

Sky cite an ‘increasing frustration’ at what he believes is a lack of ambition by the club and with recent weeks seeing him linked with moves to AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and West Ham, he now wants the opportunity to explore those options.

Everton were also heavily linked with him last summer but nothing came off it.

The 28 year old moved to us from Werder Bremen four years ago for a snip £2million but he did also sign a four year deal last summer, keeping him under contract until 2020 and he has travelled with the squad for our pre season training camp/tour in Switzerland.

There’s no confirmation from Stoke that this is the case as I write, but I would imagine later today there could be some clarity.
