An Irish question mark for Lawrence

Stoke City’s Liam Lawrence is still waiting to see if he’ll take part in tonight’s critical World Cup match against France.

Despite the Irish team boss, Giovanni Trapattoni, announcing ten of the starting eleven (including the Potters’ Glenn Whelan) he’s hedging his bets between Lennie and Aiden McGeady.

Lawrence will be keen to earn his fourth cap for his country and should be favourite to start despite not being able to command a regular starting position in the Stoke eleven – something that many Stoke fans believe is unjust.

The first leg is live on Sky Sports 1 tonight and kick-off at Croke Park, Dublin is at 8pm. The second leg, which will determine if there will be two more Potters at next summer’s World Cup in South Africa, is at the Stade de France in Paris next Wednesday.
