Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen has secured the Supporters’ Player of the Year at the FA Wales Awards dinner.

Having been named in the UEFA Team of the Tournament after Wales shone by reaching the semi finals of the European Championships, Allen beat off competition from Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale and Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey to take the gong.

It’s the second successive year that the 27 year old has lifted the trophy and the Awards dinner took place earlier in the week at Henson Castle, Cardiff.

A good boost for Allen as he looks to start their Group D qualifier against Georgia and the Republic of Ireland in search of a Play Off spot for the coming World Cup competition.

Wales take on Georgia on Friday before facing Martin O’Neill’s side on Monday.
