Stoke City took a much-needed point from our trip to Bramall Lane to face high flying Sheffield United and one player stood out amongst all others for his individual performance on the day as he helped ensure the current atmosphere and feelings against manager Gary Rowett at least stayed the same, as opposed to getting a touch more toxic.

After a goalless first half, the hosts took the lead and it was thoroughly deserved given their domination of the game. Even after our mini fight back and Joe Allen’s equaliser, they still bossed possession, had double the chances in total that we did and had six on target compared to our four.

Allen takes the praise for his goal but statistics website WhoScored gave their Man of the match rating to goalkeeper Jack Butland for his efforts to keep it at 1-0, awarding him 7.83.

Hardly inspiring overall and Rowett was left saying the same things at the fulltime whistle, but notable mentions for Allen (7.81), Ashley Williams once more (7.35), James McClean (7.16) and Cuco Martina (6.79).

We limp along.
